PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THIS IN FULL BEFORE SENDING YOUR COMMENT.

Sensations Magazine is seeking poetry and/or fiction about events, people, or places from the pages of American history, during the years 1901-2010, and conjecturing America to the year 2100.  There are two contests, each with an entry fee.  One has a deadline of Valentine's Day 2010, and the second has a deadline of Independence Day 2010.

Sensations Magazine has operated for 23 years without any Federal, state, or local government grant funding, nor university affiliation.  Several sources of revenue, including contest entry fees, allow the publication to operate in a truly independent editorial fashion.  All funds raised go toward a variety of things:  New Jersey state corporate taxes ($520/year), corporate accounting fees (hundreds of dollars per year), business insurance (hundreds of dollars per year), cash payments to writers who win our contests, payments to professional musicians who perform at our events, and, of course, the production and shipping of our sensational, multiple-award-winning issues.  The Publisher, has volunteered his time, without salary, for all 23 years, for the sake of American and international poets and writers - and for that, recently received a 2009 New Jersey State Jefferson Award for Public Service.  That is who is on this side of any dialog you initiate.

Payment of an entry fee is NOT a guarantee of publication; all material submitted for judging with names removed from the pages of the poems, and only those considered the most sensational by the editors are accepted.  This system has worked well for our publication, AND for writers who have chosen to join us, for over two decades.  If it's not for you, fine.  Go elsewhere.  There are hundreds of literary magazines out there, along with the capability to self-publish on the Internet.  I set my time and energy aside solely to support those who wish to support Sensations Magazine and The Six Centuries Club.  Period.

However, if you are a writer seeking community, and feel you can add both talent and taste to our mix of club members, you are welcomed and encouraged to join us on our terms.  You do not need to be a poet or fiction writer or historian to join as a member of The Six Centuries Club.  See the "Join the Club" page for the six available membership options.  All payments should be made out to "The Six Centuries Club,"  and mailed to P.O. Box 132, Lafayette, NJ 07848.  Those who submit material in 2010 will receive, by direct email, information about submitting to the issues planned for 2011 and 2012.

Thank you for your support of Sensations Magazine and The Six Centuries Club.  Our website is designed to provide easy answers to the majority of questions we receive.  However, if you've checked out all the buttons and text, and haven't found the answer to your question, please fill out the information below - but note that we reply to this section only as time allows.  You generally will get a quicker reply by sending a SASE.

If you wish to waste your time and mine by sending a crude remark or comment that shows a lack of class or taste on your part, think twice before hitting that button.  I reply to all comments as I see fit.  In some cases, you'll hear back from me, with an initially courteous reply.  In other cases, I will simply report you to the appropriate authorities.  I take no responsibility for anything that backfires on you, as a result of your writing to me in an offensive manner.

"If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."  It's an old phrase, but well worth remembering.

Think twice before you send something you may later regret. - David Messineo, Publisher/Executive Editor
